On August 31, 2024, our Streams of Hope team visited Yayasan Cinta Kasih Ibu Teresa with a mission to raise awareness about the critical importance of clean water. From the moment we arrived, we were met with open arms and bright smiles from the children, whose enthusiasm set the tone for what would be a truly memorable day.
Our team divided into two groups to create a more personal experience for both the children and the elders. On the first floor, half of us worked with the young children, leading them through a fun and educational hands-on activity. The kids were divided into three groups, where they crafted simple water filters from plastic bottles, then took their creativity a step further by decorating them with paint. It wasn’t just about building filters; it was about instilling an understanding of the value of clean water in a way that was both playful and impactful.
Meanwhile, the rest of our team went upstairs to engage with the elders. We introduced them to our new water filters, explaining their functionality and the significance of clean water access. The session became even more special as we joined together for a lively karaoke session, sparking laughter and joy. This was more than just an educational experience—it was an opportunity to connect on a deeper level and hear the elders’ reflections on our visit and the difference it made.
Before leaving, we made sure to share snacks and Cleo Water, generously provided by one of our sponsors, with both the children and elders. The event was further enriched by the participation of 14 dedicated student volunteers from across Surabaya, whose energy and passion for our cause were truly inspiring.
